I am watch No Reservation with Anthony Bourdain and he's in Brazil. He's drinking several of local beverage and I can only imagine how good they taste. I generally enjoy seeing him try out the different food but all I can think of was the drinks. I can't sip my scotch or drink a beer to distract myself. I should stop watching this show but I want to maintain my same routine.
Well, to be as close to it as possible to my old routine with out alcohol. I don't think I can go to a bar right now or see any of my drinking buddies. I've never realize how much of my friends drink. I hope writing this blog help me not think about it as much. I will go to the gym a little bit later to keep me busy. That's been a challenge for me as to figure what I will do with my time.

It is obvious to me that in spite of Anthony Bourdain's conviction that he is "conquered" his drug and drinking demons, he is a typical, run-of-the-mill alcoholic, who is still in the throes of his addiction to alcohol. Look at him...EVERY time you see him he has a drink in his hand. Do "normal" people carry drinks around and consume them 24-7? Not at all! Bourdain's life, although it may appear to be successful on the surface, is no different from any other alcoholic's. I am a recovering alcoholi--with 27 years of recovery--and I will say definitely that without AA meetings, I wouldn't have made it. I go to meetings these days to meet my friends and hear hilarious stories (which can't be heard ANYWHERE ELSE). I have not thought about picking up a drink in YEARS, but LOVE being around SOBER alcoholics. And helping the ones who maybe aren't so sober.
